Panthers 6 Vipers 3
Sunday, November 30th, 2008The Panthers put themselves right back in the mix with this win over Mincoffs Vipers thanks mainly to a second period surge that them score four times but for Vipers it’s now six straight league losses.
The gloves were off after only twelve seconds as Andre Payette and Rumum Ndur went for it and then at 4.45 we had bout number two with Derek Campbell and Kevin Bergin renewing acquaintances.
It was the visitors who took the lead however at 7.57 with Ed Courtenay (3rd) scoring but Panthers were level by the end of the period thanks to a strike by Johan Molin (11th) at 17.44.
The home side took charge in the middle period, hitting home the advantage quickly as goals by Dan Tessier (10th, 11th) at 20.52 and again at 22.18 saw them 3-1 ahead. Matt Myers (5th) added a fourth at 25.06 on the powerplay before Courtenay (4th) managed to pull one back at 34.10. The Panthers had the last say in the period however and at 39.14 another powerplay counter by David Clarke (17th) made it 5-2.
Although Vipers gave themselves a glimmer of hope when Todd Griffiths (12th) scored at 49.08 they could get no closer and Panthers rounded off the scoring at 59.30 with an empty net goal by Molin (12th).
